Meadowbank Covid 19 Case Management Follow up

posted September 9, 2020 by Susan Brownlow - viewed 174 times

Dear Clubs,
Further to our communication on Monday, you and your members would likely have heard / spotted that ERNA was mentioned in the 08 September 2020, NSW Health COVID-19 (Coronavirus) statistics, the full details of which can be found at the following link:
For ease of reference, the ERNA relevant text is as follows:

Anyone who attended the following venue[s] at these times is considered a casual contact and must monitor for symptoms and get tested immediately if they develop. After testing, you must remain in isolation until a negative test result is received:
  • Eastwood Ryde Netball Association, Meadowbank Park, Adelaide St West Ryde on 5 September between 12:15pm - 1:30pm.  Some people who attended were close contacts and have been contacted directly to get tested and isolate for 14 days.
Many of you / your members have asked for more details about the teams / court / venue etc. etc..  However, we have confirmed with NSW Health that we are not at liberty to provide anything beyond that which NSW Health has chosen to publish, which is what is shown above.  Please recognise that we all need to respect the privacy of the participants that have been impacted by the positive test result.
We have confirmed with NSW Health today that all close contacts have been notified.  This confirms that, if anyone attended last Saturday (5th September) between 12:15pm and 1:30pm and they haven't been called by NSW Health then they are regarded as a casual contact.  If anyone attended outside of those times then they're not a contact of the case in question.
This matter highlights why it is vitally important that we:
  1. have and adhere to the cap on non-players per team - this allows us to stay 1.5m apart whenever not on court
  2. record details of all non-players on the scoresheet - NSW Health used this information for contact tracing
While we understand that many of your members will be nervous as a result of this positive test result, we encourage them to review the FAQs at the following website:
This is the best source of information regarding COVID-19 in NSW and provides good insights regarding how the virus is transmitted, what constitutes a close contact as opposed to a casual contact, the best way to prevent spread of the virus etc. etc..
NSW Health has also confirmed that we are allowed to continue playing netball as there is no greater risk now than there has been during every round to date.
We look forward to seeing you and your members on Saturday, with everyone complying with the ERNA Return to Play Procedure.
Please share this information with all your members and confirm back to Trevor (ernacovidsc@gmail.com) when you have done so.
Thanks for your continued support and understanding as we worked this through.
Regards,
ERNA Executive and Trevor
