Umpiring 2026

posted February 3, 2026 by Paul Grundy - viewed 16 times

Welcome to Comets Umpiring 2026

Umpiring is a fantastic way to be involved in netball and can be very rewarding, both mentally and financially (umpires get paid to umpire).

Comets welcomes all umpires, and provides ongoing support.

Umpiring is a nationally accredited qualification. ERNA runs a special Umpires Development Program (UDP) during the start weeks of each season. Umpires must be 14 years or older to take part, but you can start at any age – I was 53 when I started umpiring.

If you are interested in becoming an umpire in 2026 please reach out to me via email at cometsumpires@gmail.com

For returning umpires we will send out umpire surveys by the end of February.

ERNA Rep Umpiring: As the ERNA season is starting later than usual (2 May) there are likely to be a number of Rep Carnivals before the start of the ERNA Season.

Also note that Netball NSW is running their Umpire Camps in mid-March, these are for C Badge and B Badge umpires and are a fantastic way to improve your skills and meet other people. Umpire C camp is 14 March and Umpire B Camp is 15 March. Umpires need to book these sessions via their Netball Australia Learning centre, go to https://learning.netball.com.au/login/index.php (if you need any help please give me a call on 0409 990 568)
